Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Snapseek ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal data is handled in a safe and responsible manner.

2. Information We Collect

  • User Data: We collect your name and email address when you register or sign in using Google Auth.
  • Photo Data: We process photos uploaded by event organizers.
  • Biometric Metadata: Our system generates numerical face vectors (mathematical representations of faces) to enable face matching. These are NOT actual images of your face but derived data points used for search functionality.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide our face-matching search service.
  • Notify users when photos they appear in are found.
  • Maintain and improve the security of our platform.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We do not store face vectors indefinitely. Event data and associated metadata are typically retained only for the duration of the event's availability plus a reasonable grace period, after which they are deleted from our active databases.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including Google Cloud Platform's secure infrastructure and data encryption, to protect your Information from unauthorized access.

6. Snapseek Relay (Android App)

Snapseek Relay is our companion Android app for photographers. It receives photographs directly from a camera over the photographer's own Wi-Fi hotspot or USB cable and uploads them to the Snapseek event the photographer has joined.

What the app accesses: photographs sent to the phone by the connected camera; the camera lens, used solely to scan the event QR code; and the phone's own network connection details, used to display the address the camera must connect to. The app does not read the phone's photo gallery, contacts, location, or call data, and it contains no advertising or third-party analytics.

What leaves the device: only the photographs, their EXIF metadata, and the event identifier and upload token needed to file them, sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to Snapseek. A diagnostics log of transfer timings and error messages is kept on the device and is transmitted only when the photographer chooses "Share diagnostics".

Retention and deletion: full-size photographs are deleted from the phone automatically about ten minutes after their upload is confirmed, leaving only a small thumbnail so the photographer can still see what was sent. "Clear event data" deletes the local queue, the thumbnails and the stored upload token at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all local data. Photographs already uploaded are governed by section 4 above and can be deleted by the photographer from the Snapseek dashboard, or on request to the address below.
